I hate dentists and I hate dental insurance.
This morning, I had an appointment with an orthodontist at 7:45 am on the north side of town. I went to my regular dentist on Monday and was informed that I needed to see an orthodontist to have a root canal. Now, anyone who has had a root canal knows that they are not cheap. That's why I pay so much towards my dental insurance each time I get a paycheck. Last February, I had to have a root canal on a different tooth. I still had to pay an arm and a leg to get it done. The insurance paid very little.
So, when the dental assistant called the orthodontist to set up an appointment, they advised her that I had exhausted my benefits (from the last root canal). I found out that my dental insurance only pays so much for dental work and once they have paid a certain amount, they don't pay anymore until the new fiscal year starts. That's just great! Now, I need to have a root canal and come up with about $1,400.00 of my own money. Well, I did get my root canal today and mom and dad helped me out....now, I owe them.
Why do dentists charge so much anyway? Is the anesthesia that expensive? Are their surgical tools that expensive? I even chose not to use the gas today (it was an extra $50.00). The prices of dental work is outrageous. Fortunately, since the procedure, I have felt a lot less pain. Now the area is sore......and the doctor said it would be sore for another week. Because of that, he wrote me MORE prescriptions. For those who know me, I hate taking medicine anyway, so taking more pills is not what I wanted, but it is what I need .....so I will do it.
Since I was not sure how I would feel after the procedure, I decided to take the whole day off. After the procedure, I decided to do some yard work. I went to Jeff's dad's house, trimmed back some bushes and mowed his lawn. Then, I went and mowed Glenda's yard. I am glad I did because both yards had grown up and I knew it was suppose to rain tonight.
After mowing, I met Gayla at the doctor's office so she could get a physical. For some reason, it is required for her archery class at school. Once we took care of that, I went and had my oil changed in my truck. I figured since I was off work, I would get all my errands taken care of today.
Tomorrow evening, I will be back at the State Fair, working in the booking area of the safety center. If the police arrest anyone at the fair, I will get to see them and help process them. I work in the booking area every year at the State Fair. I enjoy it. I usually work the fair both weekends it is open (Friday and Saturday night), but last weekend I was tied up with REACT events, so I could not work it. I am working this Friday and Saturday night, so we will see what kind of action we get.
