I had a very good weekend!

I was up early Saturday morning, loaded up my lawn equipment and drove up to my daughter’s school to do some yard work. I was under the assumption that the maintenance people that work for the Oklahoma City Public School system, were the ones that did the yard work for all the schools. My daughter’s school is a charter school and, after talking to one of the volunteers at the school, I found out that the school gets state funds, but they do not get any assistance maintaining the schoolyard. This is where they have to depend on the parents of the students.

I had not realized this, but either way, I was willing to help….especially since it is my daughter’s school. I spent over 3 hours on Saturday morning mowing, weedeating and edging around the south parking lot of the school. There was lots to weeedeat….especially in the parking lot where they had sprayed for weeds the weekend before. I weedeated the dead grass in the parking lot and then went on the outside of the parking lot and did weedeating there. After that was complete, I drove over to the west side of the school property, by the ball diamonds and mowed that area as well. By the time I had finished, it was almost 11 am. I was hot, sweaty and filthy…..and ready to head home.

Once again, it was a very hot day, so I stayed inside the house the rest of the day. I helped Karla get the house ready for our housewarming party on Sunday and I watched TV. That evening, I watched COPS, worked on Sunday’s powerpoint and went to bed.

Sunday was the big day. It was August 15th and the anniversary of the death of my MIL. It had been one year since she had passed away and we had fulfilled one of her wishes by moving in to her house. That’s one reason why we had the housewarming so soon…..iIt was a day to honor my MIL. We had worked hard and the house looked great. What made it even more special were the 40 + friends and family that came by our house for the housewarming. It was clearly evident my MIL touched many lives at our church. The housewarming was 2-4 pm, but it lasted all the way up to 5:30 pm….what a blessing!

Today has been a very busy day at work. We have two dispatchers off, so myself and the weekend dispatcher are working two different radios. We have had many main breaks and other types of leaks today. I will say this…it has made the day go by a lot faster.

By the way, did I mention that Gayla got a new dog?

Did I also mention that Simba got a new "house?"
